Solitude in White | Alberta, Canada
After a fresh snowfall in Alberta, the landscape was reduced to shape, light, and shadow. Hills became soft waves. Detail disappeared. What remained was rhythm.  Then there was the tree.
Standing alone in a sea of sculpted snow, it introduced a quiet counterpoint to the flowing forms around it. The warmth of its needles caught the winter light, gently contrasting the cool blues of the drifts. Nothing dramatic. Just presence.
Winter simplifies everything. Snow removes distraction and reveals composition in its purest form. In this scene, the land feels almost abstract, more sculpture than geography.  For me, this image is about restraint and resilience. A single form holding its ground in a vast field of white.  Sometimes the most powerful landscapes are the quietest ones.
