Selected Works is a curated chronological collection spanning more than 20 years behind the camera, bringing together images that reflect the evolution of my eye and artistic perspective over time.
STILLNESS IN RED | Rising from the horizon like an island in a sea of forest, Stone Mountain emerges beneath a brilliant sunrise of orange, crimson, and violet. Captured from the roof of Bank of America Plaza, this rare perspective reveals one of Georgia's most recognizable landmarks from nearly twenty miles away.Layers of mist and rolling woodland create a sense of depth that highlights the mountain's solitary presence against the morning sky. It is a view few ever witness and a reminder of the remarkable landscapes that surround Atlanta.

DOOR NUMBER 23 | Travel often teaches us that beauty does not have to be grand to be memorable.Walking through Aruba, I found myself drawn not to a famous landmark or sweeping vista, but to a simple doorway. The warm yellow stucco, weathered wood, and soft Caribbean light combined to create a scene that felt timeless. There was nothing extraordinary about it, yet it stopped me in my tracks. What caught my eye was the harmony of the elements. The rich grain of the wooden shutters contrasted beautifully against the vibrant wall, while the symmetry of the door created a sense of balance and calm. Above it all, the number 23 quietly marked an address that could belong to anyone and everyone at the same time.Photographs like this remind me that every door carries a story. Behind it may be a family gathering for dinner, a couple beginning their day, or generations of memories woven into the walls. We rarely know the stories hidden beyond a closed door, and perhaps that mystery is part of their appeal. In a world often focused on dramatic destinations, I am continually reminded that some of the most rewarding photographs come from slowing down and noticing the details. Beauty is not always found in the extraordinary. Sometimes it is found in a doorway glowing in the afternoon sun.

THE NIGHT LETS GO | As dawn breaks over the Panama Canal, the rising sun emerges through layers of tropical haze, transforming the sky into a delicate blend of violet, indigo, and crimson. The landscape below remains in shadow, waiting patiently as the first light of a new day spreads across the horizon. The simplicity of the scene is its strength. A solitary sun suspended above distant hills becomes the entire story, drawing attention to the quiet beauty that exists in the moments between darkness and daylight. The soft atmospheric layers create depth and mystery, blurring the boundary between earth and sky. There is a sense of anticipation in every sunrise, but especially here. For centuries, travelers have crossed this narrow passage between oceans, each journey beginning with a horizon much like this one. In the stillness of dawn, before the movement of ships and the activity of the day, the canal reveals a rare moment of calm, where light, color, and silence come together in perfect balance.

HULL NOCTURNE | They cross oceans carrying the world's commerce, yet few people ever notice them. Massive, utilitarian, and seemingly anonymous, these floating giants spend their lives moving quietly between continents, weathering storms, salt, and time. In the fading paint and rust stained hull, the ship begins to reveal its history, transforming from a machine of commerce into something unexpectedly beautiful. The glowing golden streak rising across the dark hull feels almost like a distant mountain range at sunset, a landscape painted by years of exposure to the elements. What was once merely corrosion becomes a record of countless voyages, reminding us that even the most industrial objects can acquire character, dignity, and a story worth telling. These truly are the barns of the sea, vast working structures whose beauty emerges only when we stop long enough to look.

MOLTEN HORIZON | Most people see a tanker. I see a survivor. These massive vessels spend decades crossing oceans, carrying the cargo that quietly keeps the world moving. They endure storms, salt, endless sunrises and sunsets, and the relentless wear of time. Like weathered barns standing alone on the prairie, they become monuments to hard work, endurance, and purpose. What drew me to this ship was not its size, but its surface. Layers of paint, rust, scars, and repairs told a story written over many years at sea. Every mark hinted at a journey, every texture a chapter. Standing close enough that the vessel became abstract, I was no longer photographing a ship. I was photographing history. The rich orange and deep blue tones create a simple composition, reducing the subject to color, line, and atmosphere. The horizon divides the frame like a distant ocean meeting an endless sky, while the blurred textures suggest motion, memory, and the passage of time.I often refer to these vessels as "Barns of the Sea." Like old farm buildings, they may not be elegant in the traditional sense, but they possess a character earned through years of service. Their beauty comes not from perfection, but from experience.

IF PHYLLIS DILLER WERE A BIRD | Standing quietly in the shadows of a Costa Rican mangrove, this snowy egret immediately brought to mind the unmistakable hairstyle of Phyllis Diller. Its wispy breeding plumes seemed to have a personality all their own, cascading in every direction with an elegance that was equal parts graceful and comedic. The contrast was impossible to ignore. Against the dark water and dense foliage, the brilliant white bird appeared almost luminous, its reflection doubling the effect. What began as a wildlife encounter quickly became a character portrait, proving that nature occasionally has a wonderful sense of humor.

GOLDEN VISITOR | Perched delicately on a cluster of vibrant purple blooms, this eastern tiger swallowtail seems to pause just long enough to be admired. Sunlight illuminates its wings, revealing intricate patterns and rich golden tones that contrast beautifully with the surrounding greenery.Butterflies are often symbols of transformation, but they are also reminders to appreciate fleeting moments. This image captures one such moment, where color, light, and life come together in a scene that feels both joyful and serene.

BLUE REVERENCE | A tiny bee approaches a brilliant blue hydrangea, suspended in midair for just an instant before landing. The contrast between the delicate visitor and the dense cluster of vibrant petals creates a scene that feels both intimate and full of life.Nature often reveals its magic in fleeting moments. Here, the hovering insect adds a sense of movement and anticipation, transforming a simple flower portrait into a story of connection, balance, and the quiet rhythms of a summer garden.

THE FRAGILE PAUSE | Dragonflies patrolled the skies long before birds appeared and before dinosaurs ruled the Earth. Their remarkable design has changed little over hundreds of millions of years, a testament to one of nature's most successful predators.Photographed at Gibbs Gardens, this dragonfly paused atop a weathered perch, its delicate wings spread like stained glass. The intricate network of veins catches the light while the soft background fades away, drawing attention to details often missed by the naked eye. For a brief moment, this ancient hunter traded speed for stillness, revealing the elegance hidden within one of nature's oldest survivors.

EVENING ON OCEAN DRIVE | Photography often rewards preparation, but sometimes it rewards timing.I had three nights in Miami Beach and planned to photograph the iconic facade of The Carlyle, forever linked in my mind to the film The Birdcage. Standing on Ocean Drive as dusk settled over South Beach, the building seemed to glow. The pastel sky, swaying palms, and neon sign created the kind of scene that has defined Miami's Art Deco district for generations. What I did not know at the time was that this would be my only opportunity. The following two nights brought rain, gray skies, and entirely different conditions. Had I waited, hoping for a better composition or stronger light, this photograph would never have existed. Instead, I chose to capture the moment in front of me, and it turned out to be the best moment of the trip. That experience reinforced an important lesson. Photographers often convince themselves there will be another chance tomorrow. Sometimes there is. Sometimes there is not. The scene in front of you may be the one gift the day offers. For me, this image is more than a photograph of a famous building. It is a reminder that timing matters, both in photography and in life. Opportunities rarely announce themselves. They simply appear, wait briefly, and then disappear.

KEEPER OF THE RED CLIFFS | Perched above the rugged shoreline of Nova Scotia, the lighthouse stands watch over waters that have shaped generations of sailors, fishermen, and coastal communities. Bathed in the warm glow of autumn light, it serves as both landmark and guardian, a quiet symbol of resilience along Canada's eastern shore. The fiery red cliffs, sculpted by wind and sea, contrast beautifully with the deep blue water and evergreen forests that blanket the coastline. Together they create a landscape that feels both wild and welcoming, where the rhythm of the ocean has long defined life on the land.Autumn brings a special magic to this corner of Nova Scotia. The lower angle of the sun enriches every color, illuminating the shoreline with a warmth that hints at the coming winter. In this peaceful moment, the lighthouse becomes more than a structure. It becomes a beacon of permanence, standing steadfast between forest, sea, and sky.

AUTUMN PASSAGE | Each autumn, the Great Smoky Mountains undergo a transformation that feels almost magical. Layer upon layer of forested ridges ignite in shades of gold, amber, and copper, creating a landscape that appears to glow from within as the day's final light sweeps across the mountains.A winding road disappears into the distance, tracing a path through the valleys below and inviting thoughts of discovery and adventure. Yet from this vantage point, the road becomes secondary to the grandeur of the landscape itself, where rolling ridges stretch endlessly toward the horizon like waves frozen in time. The Smokies are known for their mist, but on evenings like this, it is the light that takes center stage. Soft and golden, it reveals the contours of the mountains while adding a dreamlike quality to the scene. For a few fleeting moments, the forest becomes a sea of illuminated color, reminding us why autumn in the Smokies remains one of nature's most celebrated spectacles.

CELESTIAL BLOOM | This image began with a simple question: what happens when you stop photographing fireworks the way everyone else does? By intentionally introducing motion and allowing the points of light to blur, a familiar fireworks display is transformed into something entirely different, revealing patterns and colors that exist for only a fraction of a second. The result feels less like a photograph of fireworks and more like an abstract painting of light. It serves as a reminder that creativity often comes from breaking the rules, looking beyond the obvious, and discovering beauty in places others might never think to look.

ELECTRIC AURORA | Like the previous image, this photograph explores what happens when fireworks are viewed through a more creative lens. Rather than freezing the explosion in time, intentional camera movement transforms the burst into flowing ribbons of color that radiate from a brilliant center, creating an image that feels energetic, playful, and almost alive. The result is part photography and part abstract art. The vibrant magenta and gold trails resemble brushstrokes painted across the night sky, revealing patterns and movement invisible to the naked eye. It is a reminder that sometimes the most interesting photographs come not from documenting what we see, but from discovering what lies beyond it.

A BRIGHTER CORNER | For years, the colorful Midtown sign welcomed visitors and served as a symbol of one of Atlanta's most vibrant neighborhoods. Though the sign is gone, its place in the city's identity remains.Presented against a monochrome skyline, the vivid colors stand out as a reminder that landmarks are often remembered not for their size, but for the connections they create. Sometimes the most enduring pieces of a city are the ones no longer there.

DUSK IN THE VALLEY | As evening settles across the hills near Lake Burton, the weathered red barn stands quietly against a landscape washed in deep greens and fading blue light. The last glow of the day lingers on the horizon, illuminating the rolling pasture and winding country road with a sense of calm that feels untouched by time. There is something comforting about rural scenes like this. The barn, sturdy and familiar, becomes more than a building. It is a symbol of tradition, resilience, and a slower pace of life. Surrounded by forested hills and gathering clouds, it anchors the landscape with quiet confidence. The photograph captures that fleeting moment between day and night when the world seems to exhale. The colors soften, the shadows deepen, and the countryside settles into silence. It is a reminder that some of life's most meaningful moments are not dramatic at all, but found in the peaceful beauty of simply being present.

CROSSING INTO EVENING | Some scenes are beautiful. Others become memorable when viewed from a different perspective.Standing beneath the Bay Bridge at dusk, I was drawn not only to the graceful lines of the bridge itself, but also to the weathered remnants of old pilings emerging from the water. Their quiet presence hinted at stories long forgotten, while the bridge stretched confidently across the bay toward the future. I chose to tilt the camera intentionally. The composition felt more dynamic, echoing the movement of the bridge cables and transforming a familiar landmark into something unexpected. The resulting angle creates tension and energy while preserving the calm beauty of the water below. The long exposure softened the bay into a silky canvas, allowing the pilings to cast ghostlike shadows into the water. Above, the pastel colors of twilight painted the sky in soft blues and warm pinks, creating a striking contrast between motion and stillness.Photography is often about seeing what others overlook. Sometimes that means finding a unique subject. Other times it simply means changing your point of view. A slight shift in perspective can transform the ordinary into something entirely new.

THE CITY I LOVE | Some photographs are planned. Others happen when the elements come together for a fleeting moment. As the sun slipped below the horizon in San Francisco, the sky transformed into a wash of warm tangerine and coral tones. Standing before the monumental bow and arrow sculpture, I watched the city become a silhouette against the glowing backdrop. The contrast between the massive artwork and the surrounding skyline immediately caught my attention. What drew me most was the relationship between the sculpture and the city. The giant arrow seems suspended in time, its graceful curve framing the buildings beyond while the warm evening light softens the hard edges of steel, glass, and concrete. For a few brief minutes, the entire scene felt less like a cityscape and more like a work of art.The sculpture's bold form provides a sense of movement and energy, while the glowing sky wraps the scene in warmth and tranquility. It is a reminder that even in the heart of a busy urban landscape, moments of beauty can appear unexpectedly and disappear just as quickly.Sometimes a photograph is not about the city, the sculpture, or even the sunset. It is about the feeling created when all three come together in perfect harmony.
PACIFIC TWILIGHT | Few buildings are as instantly recognizable as San Francisco's Transamerica Pyramid. For decades, it has stood as a symbol of the city, rising above the skyline with a form that is both simple and unmistakable. What captivated me on this evening was not just the building itself, but the extraordinary color unfolding around it. As the last light of day faded, the sky transitioned through layers of gold, rose, lavender, and deep blue, creating a backdrop that seemed almost painted. The Pyramid stood quietly within that color, no longer dominating the skyline but becoming part of the larger composition. The illuminated windows scattered throughout the scene hint at thousands of individual lives winding down their day while the city slips from daylight into evening. There is an unexpected calm here, a softness that contrasts with the energy usually associated with San Francisco.Photographers often chase dramatic weather, but sometimes the most memorable moments arrive on an ordinary evening when light, color, and timing align perfectly. For a few fleeting minutes, the city seemed suspended between day and night, wrapped in a palette that would vanish as quickly as it appeared.

COLOR FINDS ITS WAY | Aspen trunks stand like quiet sentinels as autumn paints the forest floor in brilliant shades of gold, crimson, and green. Taken on the first day of my Colorado journey, this scene felt like a welcome invitation from the mountains themselves. What drew me in was the contrast. Amid the clean white bark and vertical rhythm of the aspens, bursts of color emerge from every corner, reminding us that beauty often reveals itself in unexpected places.

MOON GRADIENT | Suspended above a horizon of distant dunes and shadowed ridges, the full moon hangs in a sky painted with an extraordinary spectrum of color. Cool turquoise fades into emerald, then amber and violet, creating a natural gradient that feels almost dreamlike in its simplicity.Taken near Great Sand Dunes National Park, this image captures one of those fleeting moments when the earth, sky, and moon seem perfectly balanced. The vastness of the landscape is suggested rather than revealed, allowing the eye to linger on the delicate transition of color and the quiet presence of the moon. There is a sense of stillness here that invites reflection. As night yields to day, the moon makes its final descent while the sky awakens around it. The result is a scene that feels both expansive and intimate, reminding us that beauty often lies not in what dominates the frame, but in the space between.

DRAIN OVER THE BASIN | A distant thunderstorm releases its curtains of rain across the landscape, transforming the desert sky into a study of light, atmosphere, and scale. Soft bands of illuminated precipitation descend from the clouds like brushstrokes, connecting heaven and earth in a fleeting display of nature's power.Photographed near White Sands, the scene reveals a side of the desert many never witness. While often associated with dryness and endless sun, these vast landscapes can become stages for dramatic weather, where rain falls in isolated columns and sunlight paints the storm with subtle shades of gold, lavender, and blue. The rugged ridges below provide a sense of permanence beneath a sky in constant motion. For a few brief moments, the storm becomes both spectacle and sculpture, suspended between creation and disappearance. It is a reminder that some of nature's most beautiful moments are also its most temporary, arriving quietly and vanishing just as quickly.

Soft hues of peach, rose, and lavender drift across the sky while gentle blue shadows trace the contours of the pristine gypsum dunes below. In the stillness before sunrise, the desert feels almost weightless. The sweeping curves and delicate gradients create a scene of remarkable simplicity, where every line serves a purpose and every shadow adds depth. There are no distractions, only the quiet elegance of wind sculpted sand stretching to the horizon. This image celebrates the beauty of restraint. The subtle palette and flowing forms invite contemplation, offering a moment of calm in a world often filled with noise. What could have been a beautiful landscape becomes something more, a story of freedom, scale, and timing. The small silhouette brings life to the immense scene, offering a sense of movement within an otherwise tranquil world.Rendered in black and white, the image strips away distraction and emphasizes form, light, and emotion. A SOLITARY LIFE | Yellowstone National Park is one of the last places in North America where wildlife still roams across vast landscapes much as it has for thousands of years. Encounters here often feel less like observations and more like glimpses into a world that existed long before roads, fences, and cities. What drew me to this scene was the solitude. A lone bull moose moves steadily across the open expanse, dwarfed by the immense landscape around him. Layers of autumn grasses, morning mist, and distant forests create a sense of depth that emphasizes both the scale of Yellowstone and the independence of one of its most iconic inhabitants. There is a quiet dignity in his journey. Unconcerned with the observer, he continues toward the horizon, embodying the freedom and wildness that make Yellowstone one of the most extraordinary natural places on Earth. For a fleeting moment, I was fortunate enough to witness that spirit unfolding before me.

THE CENTER OF IT ALL A familiar skyline becomes something entirely unexpected in this playful "little planet" interpretation of downtown Atlanta. The city's towers curve inward around a glowing center, while the iconic Varsity sign remains instantly recognizable, anchoring the scene with a touch of nostalgia.By bending perspective and reality, the image transforms Atlanta into its own miniature universe, where one of the city's most beloved landmarks shines as brightly as the skyline itself.

AUTUMN TAPESTRY | Hydrangeas are best known for their lush blooms in spring and summer, but their foliage often puts on an equally spectacular show in autumn. As temperatures cool, the leaves transform into rich shades of crimson, burgundy, gold, and deep violet, creating a tapestry of color that is easy to overlook amid the season's more famous maples and oaks.In this image, the fallen leaves seem almost illuminated from within, their intricate veins glowing like stained glass. The mix of colors and textures turns the forest floor into a natural mosaic, revealing a quieter side of autumn's beauty. What was once a backdrop to summer flowers becomes the star of the season, reminding us that nature often saves some of its finest displays for the very end.

TIME, REPEATED | Three weathered vents stand in quiet formation against a backdrop of peeling paint and creeping rust, their simple geometry creating a striking sense of balance and repetition. The vivid orange surface, fractured by time and corrosion, contrasts beautifully with the dark metallic forms, turning a functional design element into an unexpected work of art. What makes the image compelling is the tension between order and decay. The vents remain perfectly aligned while the surrounding paint slowly surrenders to the elements, creating a visual dialogue between permanence and change. It is a reminder that even the smallest details of a forgotten machine can possess their own beauty when viewed through a different lens.

TIME CLAIMS ALL | Layer upon layer of paint curls back like pages from a forgotten manuscript, revealing decades of color hidden beneath the surface. Deep blues, oxidized oranges, earthy greens, and weathered browns overlap in a way that feels less like corrosion and more like a landscape viewed from above, complete with canyons, rivers, and shifting terrain. The photograph invites the viewer to slow down and explore its details. Every crack, flake, and exposed layer marks another chapter in the object's history. What began as protection from the elements has become a record of them, transforming a simple sheet of metal into an abstract study of time, texture, and transformation.

RUST AND REVERIE | Nothing in this image immediately reveals its origin. It could be mistaken for an expressionist painting, layers of crimson, cobalt, violet, and gold brushed across a canvas in bold, emotional strokes. Yet every color, texture, and subtle transition was created not by an artist's hand, but by years of weather, oxidation, and decay working in quiet collaboration. The longer you look, the more the image shifts from photograph to artwork. What was once painted onto steel has become something entirely new, a richly textured abstract where time, moisture, sunlight, and rust have blended pigments into a composition that feels both accidental and intentional. It is a reminder that some of nature's most compelling art is created slowly, one season at a time.

FRACTURED TURQ\UOISE | At first glance this appears to be an abstract painting, a collision of turquoise, gold, and amber fractured into thousands of tiny shapes. Only on closer inspection does the truth emerge: this is weathered automotive paint, transformed by decades of sun, rain, and oxidation into a natural mosaic that no artist could deliberately recreate. The image celebrates the beauty hidden within decay. What was once a smooth, glossy surface has cracked into a landscape of intricate patterns and vibrant color, proving that time is not always a force of destruction. Sometimes it is a remarkably talented artist.

Rusted emblems, weathered doors, forgotten interiors, and layers of patina are preserved not as discarded objects, but as artifacts worthy of admiration. 1279 | Time has nearly erased the identity of this railcar, yet the faint numerals "1279" still emerge through layers of rust, paint, and oxidation like a memory refusing to disappear. Thousands of rivets hold the aging steel together, while decades of weather have transformed a utilitarian surface into an abstract tapestry of copper, amber, ochre, and deep earth tones. What was once a simple identification number becomes the heart of the story. The train may be retired, its journeys long finished, but traces of its past remain embedded in the metal.
